She believed she could, and so she did....
If you're ready to get handy, this full day workshop will have you on the tools in no time.
Why
Doing-It-Yourself is hugely empowering! Not to mention faster and cheaper, especially for the small home maintenance jobs. But having the confidence to give it a go starts with knowing which tool you need, and how to use it properly and safely.
That's what this workshop is about!
Who
Especially catering to women who want to be handy at home, Intro to Tools is best suited to novices and beginners. Come along for a hands-on learning experience over a broad range of both hand tools and power tools which will ensure you know the right tool for the job next time you need to D-I-Y.
What
- On arrival, get to know the other women you'll be banging with via some fun warm-up activities
- Safety First! Let's talk about how to stay safe. (NOTE: You will be provided PPE)
- First, we'll enjoy an easy introduction to a range of tools & tasks, ensuring each woman starts with a base level of knowledge in a low-pressure, no-shame environment
- Next, we'll demo the safe and proper use of each tool, with plenty of time for questions. We'll be covering off a large variety of tools used in home maintenance across 4 D-I-Y areas: CUTTING, FASTENING, FINISHING, LOOSENING
- Time for practice! Get familiar with each the tools in turn at our work stations. At times you'll work in pairs - learning, practicing and showing each other how to use both hand and power tools.
- We'll have time for free play where you can build your confidence and get your technique down pat, as well as ticking off a skills list to ensure you’re fully capable with all the tools!
- Now that you've had a play it's time to bring together everything you've learnt. Who will win the Quiz?
Plus, one lucky woman will win an electric drill starter kit!
Held over one full day with spots for just 8 women, this is a low-key, female-friendly, uplifting event.
All PPE, materials & workbook provided, plus use of hand & power tools (but feel free to BYO).
