Construction & Demolition is the largest contributor to waste in Australia, with around 27 million tonnes being generated each year.  Only about 50% is recycled, while the rest is dumped in landfill.  At the same time, our biggest supplier of hardware and building materials earns about $18 billion in annual revenue.     

 

We don't have a waste problem here, so much as a (re)distribution problem.  There is Supply and there is Demand.  But whether it's convenience, timing, or geography, a few big players are making a lot of money supplying new products at high prices, while lots of people struggle to pass on their leftover and unwanted materials.  Often these products, materials and tools are extremely useful, valuable and suitable, and are simply no longer needed or surplus to requirements.  Where and how to pass them on? 

 

This is not about profit - it's simply about finding a new home for D-I-Y materials, products and tools that would otherwise go to waste.  The seller wins. The buyer wins. The planet wins.
